The purpose of this seminar is to promote the growth of walking style robots and to develop new contests that inspire people to build these robots for both entertainment and competitive purposes.

The seminar will be informal in nature with the expectation that the audience will participate in the discussions and presentations.

Introduction of the ScoutWalker3 from Solarbotics

Two new walking robot contests will be presented:
The first contest is the Walker Race developed by the Portland Area Robotics Society. This is a very exciting contest, especially the handicapping rules that enables all style of walking robots to compete on even ground. The rules will be presented, and there will be discussions to determine if this should become a new robot contest for future Robothons, and if any changes/clarifications to the rules are needed for us.

The second contest is a brand new contest where two bi-ped robots compete in a boxing/wrestling event. This event will consist of three 2 minute fighting rounds. Boxing, kicking, and pushing are permitted, with the goal of "knocking out" your opponent. This should be a very exciting event for both the competitors, audience, and media. These rules are currently in DRAFT from and are based on the Robo-One event from Japan. The rules will be presented for discussions/modifications, a name for the event is needed, and discussions to determine if this event should also become a future Robothon event.

The final part of this contest is for people to show off their walking robot creations. This is open to all scratch built, all commercially made robots, all kit robots, and any partially built robots. If it walks, it is welcome.
